PRIVACY POLICY
Version 1.0 Effective July 21, 2026
1. Purpose
This Privacy Policy explains how Knest Logistics Inc. (“Knest,” “we,” “us” or “our”) collects, uses, discloses, stores and protects personal information in connection with contractor recruitment, onboarding, participation and use of Knest’s websites, applications and related services (collectively, the “Platform”). Knest is committed to handling personal information responsibly and in accordance with Alberta’s Personal Information Protection Act (“PIPA”) and other applicable privacy laws. This Policy forms part of Knest’s privacy practices and should be read together with the Independent Contractor Agreement and any notices presented when particular information is collected.
2. Scope
This Policy applies to individuals who apply to become independent contractors, approved contractors, former contractors and visitors who interact with the contractor recruitment website or contractor-facing portions of the Platform.
This version is designed for Knest’s contractor onboarding and participation activities. It does not govern the privacy practices of third parties that operate independently under their own privacy policies.
3. Accountability
Knest Logistics Inc. is responsible for personal information under its control and has designated an individual to oversee compliance with applicable privacy laws, respond to access or correction requests and address privacy questions or complaints. Contact information appears in section 17.
4. Personal Information We Collect
The information Knest Logistics Inc. collects depends on how an individual interacts with the Platform and which features are available. Knest may collect the following categories of personal information.
4.1 Identity and contact information
- Name, residential or mailing address, email address and telephone number;
- Date of birth and other information reasonably required to confirm identity or eligibility;
- Profile photograph; and
- A copy or image of government-issued identification submitted through the onboarding process.
During the initial stage of operations, authorized Knest personnel may review identity documents manually. Knest will not use an identity document for purposes unrelated to identity, eligibility, security, fraud prevention or legal compliance unless permitted by law or the individual provides further consent.
4.2 Application, eligibility and professional information
- Work history, cleaning experience, qualifications, skills and services offered;
- Service areas, availability and scheduling preferences;
- References, certifications, licences or other eligibility documents, where applicable;
- Responses provided during contractor application, screening or onboarding; and
- Application status, approval decisions and related communications.
4.3 Background-screening information
Knest Logistics Inc. will collect criminal-record checks, background-screening documents or related information obtained and submitted by the contractor from an appropriate issuing or authorizing body. This may include the type and date of the check, verification status, disclosed results and information reasonably required to assess eligibility.
Knest does not represent that it conducts the underlying search or issues the screening document. Knest reviews contractor-submitted information for eligibility and safety purposes.
4.4 Payment and transaction information
Knest Logistics Inc. or its third-party payment and payout providers may collect or process banking, payout, tax and transaction information required to administer contractor payments, maintain financial records and comply with legal obligations. Depending on the payment arrangement, Knest may receive only limited account details or confirmation from the payment provider rather than complete banking credentials.
4.5 Platform, Booking and performance information
- Contractor account details, login activity and agreement-acceptance records;
- Available, accepted, cancelled and completed Bookings;
- Attendance, arrival, completion and service records;
- Earnings, tips, adjustments and payout history;
- Ratings, reviews, complaints, incidents and communications; and
- Performance information used to administer participation, safety, quality and future matching features.
4.6 Technical and usage information
When an individual uses the Platform, Knest Logistics Inc. and its service providers may automatically collect technical information such as IP address, device and browser type, operating system, language settings, access dates and times, pages or features used, diagnostic data, security events and cookie or similar-technology information.
4.7 Communications and support information
Knest Logistics Inc. may collect information contained in emails, application responses, in-platform messages, support requests, telephone communications, complaints, incident reports and other communications with Knest or through the Platform.
5. How We Collect Personal Information
Knest Logistics Inc. may collect personal information:
- Directly from the individual through applications, uploads, forms, account settings, communications and use of the Platform;
- Automatically through devices, cookies, logs and security or diagnostic technologies;
- From payment processors, screening or verification sources and other service providers;
- From customers in connection with Bookings, ratings, complaints or service incidents; and
- From public, regulatory or law-enforcement sources where permitted by law.
If an individual provides personal information about another person, the individual must be authorized to provide it and must not submit information that is unnecessary for the stated purpose.
6. Purposes for Using Personal Information
Knest Logistics Inc. may use personal information for reasonable purposes connected with establishing, managing or ending the contractor relationship and operating the Platform, including to:
- Receive, assess and manage contractor applications;
- Verify identity, eligibility, qualifications and submitted documents;
- Create, authenticate, secure and administer contractor accounts;
- Communicate application decisions, Booking information, operational notices and support responses;
- Present, match and administer Booking opportunities;
- Support travel, arrival, attendance and completion verification where applicable;
- Calculate earnings, process payouts, resolve payment concerns and maintain financial records;
- Administer ratings, reviews, quality controls and performance standards;
- Investigate complaints, cancellations, safety matters, fraud, misconduct or violations of Knest agreements and policies;
- Protect customers, contractors, Knest and the security and integrity of the Platform;
- Improve, test, maintain and develop Platform functionality and business operations;
- Establish, exercise or defend legal rights; and
- Comply with tax, accounting, regulatory, court, law-enforcement and other legal requirements.
Knest will not use personal information for a materially different purpose without further notice, consent where required, or other authority permitted by law.
7. Consent and Choices
Knest obtains consent in a form appropriate to the sensitivity of the information and the circumstances. Consent may be express, implied through an individual’s actions, or otherwise permitted by law. Certain information is necessary to assess an application, establish a contractor account, process payouts or provide Platform functions.
An individual may withdraw consent to a particular collection, use or disclosure by contacting Knest, subject to legal or contractual restrictions and reasonable notice. Withdrawal may prevent Knest from completing an application or providing features that depend on the information. Knest will explain material consequences of withdrawal where appropriate.
PIPA may permit or require Knest to collect, use or disclose information without consent in specified circumstances. Where this applies, Knest will act within the authority provided by law.
8. Location Information and Future Location Features
Knest Logistics Inc. does not collect precise device location as part of the initial contractor recruitment process. Contractors may provide service areas, availability and general location preferences during onboarding.
When location-enabled features are available, Knest may collect precise or approximate location information from a contractor’s device while the Platform is in use or operating in the background, depending on the contractor’s device permissions, availability settings and use of Platform features.
Knest may use location information to:
- Identify and present relevant Booking opportunities;
- Facilitate real-time matching and dispatch;
- Determine contractor proximity to service locations;
- Estimate travel distance, travel time and arrival times;
- Support navigation, travel-start, arrival and attendance verification;
- Communicate Booking progress to customers;
- Respond to safety incidents, service concerns and emergencies;
- Detect or investigate fraud, misuse or inaccurate attendance reporting;
- Analyze service coverage, marketplace demand and operational performance; and
- Develop, improve and scale Knest’s matching, logistics and Platform operations.
Depending on the device and permissions selected, location information may be collected when the application is open, during an active or accepted Booking, while the contractor has indicated availability, or in the background when location access is enabled. Contractors may manage location permissions through their device settings, but disabling location access may limit Booking opportunities or prevent certain Platform features from operating properly.
Knest will collect, use, retain and disclose location information only for reasonable purposes connected with operating, securing, evaluating and improving the Platform and providing its services. Knest does not sell precise contractor location information.
9. Information Shared with Customers
When a contractor is matched with or assigned to a Booking, Knest may provide the customer with limited information reasonably required to identify the contractor, support the service and promote trust and safety. This may include the contractor’s displayed name, profile photograph, rating, verification status, relevant service information and estimated arrival information.
Knest does not disclose a contractor’s home address, government identification, background-screening documents, banking information or personal contact information to customers except where the contractor directs or consents to the disclosure or where disclosure is otherwise permitted or required by law. Platform communication tools may be used to reduce unnecessary disclosure of personal contact information.
10. Other Disclosures of Personal Information
Knest may disclose personal information in the following circumstances.
10.1 Service providers
Knest Logistics Inc. may provide information to service providers that support identity or document review, hosting and databases, software development, cybersecurity, communications, email, analytics, mapping, payments and payouts, professional advice and other business operations. Service providers are authorized to handle information only for the services they provide to Knest or as otherwise permitted by law.
10.2 Legal, safety and compliance purposes
Knest may disclose information where reasonably necessary to comply with law, court orders or lawful demands; cooperate with regulators or law enforcement; investigate fraud, security incidents or misconduct; protect the rights, property or safety of any person; or establish, exercise or defend legal claims.
10.3 Business transactions
Knest may disclose information in connection with a proposed or completed financing, reorganization, merger, sale, transfer or other business transaction, subject to applicable legal safeguards.
10.4 With direction or consent
Knest may disclose information for another purpose when the individual directs the disclosure, provides consent, or the disclosure is otherwise permitted or required by law.
Knest does not sell contractor personal information.
11. Service Providers and Access Outside Canada
Knest Logistics Inc. is an Alberta corporation and remains responsible for personal information under its control in accordance with Alberta’s Personal Information Protection Act and other applicable Canadian privacy laws.
Knest may engage service providers or authorized personnel located outside Alberta or Canada to develop, host, maintain, secure or support the Platform and Knest’s business operations. This may include software-development support located in Nigeria and cloud-hosting, communications, payment, analytics or other service providers operating in Canada, the United States or other jurisdictions.
Knest requires service providers handling personal information on its behalf to use the information only for authorized purposes, follow Knest’s instructions, maintain appropriate confidentiality and security safeguards, and comply with contractual requirements and privacy laws applicable to Knest.
Where reasonably practicable, Knest’s service-provider agreements will be governed by the laws of Alberta and the applicable federal laws of Canada. However, personal information accessed, processed or stored outside Alberta may also be subject to the laws of the jurisdiction in which it is handled and may be accessible to courts, law-enforcement agencies or regulatory authorities in accordance with those laws.
12. Cookies, Analytics and Similar Technologies
The Platform may use essential cookies and similar technologies for functions such as authentication, security, preferences, session management and reliable operation. Knest may also collect basic analytics and diagnostic information to understand performance and improve the Platform.
If Knest later introduces non-essential advertising or cross-site measurement technologies, including tools associated with social-media advertising, Knest will update its notices and provide choices where required before activating those technologies.
13. Retention and Disposal
Knest Logistics Inc. retains personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary to fulfill the purposes described in this Policy, administer an application or contractor relationship, meet accounting and legal obligations, address disputes, maintain safety and fraud-prevention records and enforce Knest agreements and policies.
Retention periods vary depending on the sensitivity and purpose of the information. Knest may retain application, agreement, transaction or incident records after an application is declined or participation ends where reasonably required. When information is no longer required, Knest will securely delete, destroy or anonymize it in accordance with its retention practices and applicable law.
Knest will seek to limit retention of full identity and background-screening documents where recording verification status or limited eligibility information is sufficient, subject to operational and legal requirements.
14. Safeguards
Knest uses reasonable administrative, technical and physical safeguards appropriate to the sensitivity of the information. These may include role-based access restrictions, authentication controls, secure transmission and storage measures, confidentiality obligations, vendor controls, backups, monitoring and incident-response procedures.
No system can be guaranteed to be completely secure. Individuals are responsible for protecting account credentials, using secure devices and promptly notifying Knest of suspected unauthorized account access or disclosure.
15. Access and Correction
Subject to PIPA and other applicable law, an individual may request access to personal information under Knest’s control and information about how it has been used or disclosed. An individual may also request correction of inaccurate or incomplete personal information.
Knest may require sufficient information to verify identity and locate the requested records. Legal exceptions may limit access, and Knest may charge a reasonable fee where permitted after providing an estimate. If Knest refuses access or correction, it will provide reasons where required by law and information about available review or complaint options.
16. Privacy Incidents
Knest Logistics Inc. assesses suspected privacy and security incidents involving the loss of personal information or unauthorized access, collection, use or disclosure. Knest will take reasonable steps to contain the incident, assess its impact and reduce the risk of further harm. Knest will notify the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Alberta and affected individuals where notification is required by applicable law.

Knest will review privacy concerns and respond within the time required by applicable law. An individual may also contact the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Alberta regarding a concern within its jurisdiction.
18. Changes to This Policy
Knest Logistics Inc. may update this Policy to reflect changes in law, technology, service providers or business operations. The current version will identify its effective date and will be made available through the Platform. Knest will provide additional notice of material changes where appropriate or required by law.
Continued participation after an updated Policy becomes effective does not replace any consent that applicable law requires Knest to obtain separately.
